Calistoga Ranch, Napa Valley
Rural romance is at the heart of this Napa Valley retreat. Enhanced by its perfect natural setting of 157 lush oak-lined acres, we’ll find pristine views and peace of mind here at the Calistoga. The 48 free-standing and oh-so-private guest lodges reflect nature in its finest form, made from local timber the lodges seamlessly blend into its surroundings.
LOCATION
The ranch is nestled in a secluded Upper Napa Valley canyon, encircled by towering fragrant pine trees; blink and you’d miss it! Only a 45 minute drive from San Francisco international airport, it’s paradise in the hills for a perfect weekend gateway. Surrounded by some of the best wineries in the State, be sure to get out and about and sample the best Merlots and Chardonnays in town. Or if you’d rather hole up in the Ranch, the hotel’s restaurant has a wine list so large it could cover the walls. Pretty impressive. As I’m sure we plan on doing the same thing…
OUR ROOM
We definitely won’t find run-of-the-mill rooms here, oh no, rooms at the Calistoga are more like serene little sanctuaries. Ranging from the Deluxe Lodges to the Estate Lodge, each one has its own character and romantic charm. 600 square feet of indoor-outdoor living space the deluxe rooms feature idyllic terraces with an outdoor rain shower, and cosy log fires so we can unwind under the star scattered night sky. Rooms are decorated in relaxing hues of browns and creams to create a perfect and natural ambiance. The grandeur of the estate lodge is 2,400 square foot of pure heaven set by a small bubbling creek, and with its own hot tub and kitchen there’ll be no reason to leave. Chief among them being moi. I said what I said.
WHY I LIKE IT
The spa is one of a kind, nestled away in a wooded canyon in Napa; we’ll find soothing mineral pools overlooking a creek and moss-laden oaks. Sample restorative organic treatments such as the deeply nourishing pomegranate scrub, or a brightening organic pumpkin enzyme facial, so good we’ll want to eat them. When we do get peckish, the gorgeous restaurant overlooking Lake Lommel is the perfect spot for sampling the divine local cuisine whilst taking in the views of the many rolling ‘hills’.
