Rome: The Eternal City. There’s so much to see and do here that it’s essential to have the perfect little place to retreat to and escape the chaos. Luckily, I’ve found just the place. In an enviable position in the heart of the city, the many rooms and suites of Hotel de Russie offer unparalleled peace and tranquillity. The hotel even boasts its very own Secret Garden with a buzzing cocktail bar that is the place to see and be seen in Rome. After a day enjoying the gladiatorial Colosseum and the awe-inspiring Vatican City, there is simply no better place to unwind and indulge.

LOCATION

Around every cobbled street corner in Rome, you seem to stumble across another historical marvel. No more so than when we stay at Hotel de Russie. Perfectly positioned just a stone’s throw away from the Spanish Steps and with striking views of the Piazza del Popolo, we’ll have Rome at your fingertips. Better still, it’s just short of an hour’s luxury transfer from Fiumicino Airport. The definition of ‘scenic’, simply sit back as you whizz past the Vatican and into the historic city centre.

OUR ROOM

The 86 rooms and 34 suites of Hotel de Russie are a true testament to Italian style, harmonizing modern design with classical architecture. The rooms feature a range of views, from Piazza del Popolo and the Pincio to Via Baubino down below. If I had my pick, we’d opt for a Secret Garden view – so peaceful we’ll strain to hear any noise at all. Although it’s fairly certain we’ll make some noise of our own. But if we really want to relax, why not go for one of the Executive Suites which come with a packing and unpacking service as standard? Yes please. This should come standard everywhere tbh.

WHY I LIKE IT

It’s no secret that the Italians love their food and once we’ve had a mouthful of true Roman Spaghetti alla Carbonara, you’ll see why. So what’s their secret to staying oh-so svelte and glamorous? Well…Hotel de Russie has the answer – Art Running! Along with a World Triathlon Champion, we’ll take to the streets for a high-energy route taking in Rome’s most famous sights as well as its secret artistic corners. We’ll definitely have earned ourselves a gelato by the end of it. Fun disclosure – Only place I’ve run lately, ok EVER – is to the bar.  FYI: they also have Gift Certificates.
